Sports Pharmacy Magazine began as a small, independently produced publication in 2022 and has rapidly grown into the leading magazine dedicated to the emerging field of sports pharmacy. Now in its third year of production, the magazine reaches thousands of readers, including pharmacists, physicians, athletic trainers, researchers, and students passionate about optimizing athlete health and performance. Each issue undergoes a thorough and structured peer-review process to ensure high-quality, evidence-based content that advances practice and elevates the profession.
Position: Peer Reviewer (Volunteer)
Sports Pharmacy Magazine is seeking engaged, detail-oriented peer reviewers to support our expanding publication. Reviewers play a critical role in maintaining the scientific rigor, clinical accuracy, and overall quality of the magazine as it continues to grow.
Responsibilities

Provide constructive, timely evaluations of submitted articles, including clarity, accuracy, relevance, and alignment with sports pharmacy practice.

Assess the quality and validity of evidence, referencing, and clinical recommendations.

Offer actionable feedback to help authors strengthen their work while maintaining their unique voice and expertise.

Ensure content is consistent with current guidelines, ethical standards, and best practices in athlete care.

Collaborate with the editorial team to support a smooth and efficient review workflow.

Maintain confidentiality and professionalism throughout the review process.
Expected Commitment

Reviewers will typically be asked to review 1–2 articles per issue, depending on availability and expertise. Sports Pharmacy Magazine releases a new issue quarterly.

Turnaround time for reviews is typically 7–14 days.

This is a volunteer role that offers opportunities for ongoing involvement and growth within the editorial team.
Qualifications

Healthcare or research background preferred (pharmacists, residents, physicians, athletic trainers, dietitians, sport scientists, etc.).

Strong writing, editing, and critical appraisal skills.

Familiarity with sports medicine, clinical pharmacy, or athlete health is strongly preferred but not required.

Ability to provide balanced, evidence-informed feedback in a supportive and constructive manner.
